Regional overview

ALPLA started operations in the Asia-Pacific region in the year 2000 when an in-house production plant for Unilever was established in Thailand. The first base location in Prachinburi, Thailand, was inaugurated in 2004. In 2007, the company entered the Chinese market and opened a plant in Tianjin. There are also Technical Centres at the Shanghai and Bangkok sites, and, in Shanghai, apprentices are trained in an Austrian-Chinese training programme in a Future Corner. In 2022, the first recycling plant in the region was opened in Thailand – it is a joint venture with the Thai mineral oil company PTT Global.

In 2022, the former South East Asia and China regions merged to form the Asia-Pacific region. Since then, the region’s headquarters have been in Singapore. The core technologies of the region are extrusion blow moulding, injection moulding and stretch blow moulding. It serves market segments such as food, milk and dairy products, cosmetics, home care and lubricants, for which sustainable packaging solutions such as bottles, caps, etc. are produced. 2,750 employees currently work in eight base plants and three in-house plants, as well as the two technical centres.

The Asia-Pacific region is considered a particularly dynamic economic growth area. The region offers great growth potential in both the packaging and recycling segments.
