ALPLA stieg 2011 mit der Eröffnung einer Produktionsanlage in Pantelimon in den rumänischen Markt ein. Um seine Produktionskapazitäten in Osteuropa zu erhöhen, erwarb ALPLA das Unternehmen Star East PET mit Sitz in Brasov, das sich auf die Produktion von PET-Preforms für Getränke, Lebensmittel und Non-Food-Artikel für lokale und internationale Kunden spezialisiert hatte. Beide Werke zusammen fertigen mehr als 1 Milliarde Preforms jährlich. 2017 setzte ALPLA seine Expansion in Rumänien fort und eröffnete einen Inhouse-Betrieb in Timisoara. Inzwischen produzieren rund 180 Beschäftigte Lösungen für Marken in verschiedenen Marktsegmenten.
In 2018, ALPLA expanded its presence in Romania through the purchase of ARGO S.A. with the addition of the Berceni factory near Bucharest, making four factories in Romania. Currently, around 50 employees focus on product groups ranging from PET, PP and PE bottles and canisters to PET and PE jars. The main addressed markets include healthcare, crop protection and food supplements, which increases the customer product portfolio for multinational groups as well as traditional local companies.
